Description

While many pilgrims returned to the Earthen Ring not long ago, I remained here. To further my research into the Plague of Undeath. Far Seer Earthfury once saw potential for a cure in our Forsaken allies, so I have made it my mission to assist him in ridding them of their rotting curse. Rayne and I already made great strides in healing the dead earth of these lands. She is a remarkable ally, and we are certain we can achieve a breakthrough in our endeavour - in many parts thanks to the soil you brought.

Before we continue, however, we are in need of two key components. First, spore samples of the mushrooms growing in the Plaguewood. I am certain the undead roaming the ruins carry these on their bones. Furthermore, the sapling of a twisted tree, found in Zul'mashar. The troll city is nestled in the northern mountains. But beware, the resident trolls have also succumbed to the Plague of Undeath. Please, stay cautious out there.

Once we have the missing items, Rayne and I will have all we need to conduct our research on a more practical level.

Completion

Although there is no life left within these bones, the spores keep trying to search for nutrients, like a writhing parasite searching for prey. This is not a natural occurrence, yet it is not purely magical either. At this point it is a wholly new amalgamation of forces, and it won’t be easy to eradicate it.

The plan we have come up with is simple in concept. We will plant this tree sapling in the enriched earth you have brought us. Afterwards, we will apply the spores to the tree and observe what will happen. In our previous observations with saplings planted in plagued earth, they withered away in minutes, leaving a mutated husk behind. We assume the elementally enriched earth will protect the tree against the aggressors and allow it to grow freely. It will take a while, so if you ever come by again, maybe you are lucky enough to witness it.
